Thank you all for the feedback. Regarding the ‘dirt’, it’s partly from a delay that I added to the guitars and, I suspect partly from my old mixing desk that I used to run stems through and record back into the computer. Not that this is an acceptable excuse, but I was working full time in a very demanding job (minimum 90 minutes commute in each direction and I often worked over my hours, including Friday 13th) so I rushed out the mix for the deadline without giving it the proper scrutiny. Anyway, it’s been an experience and, combined with this feedback, I think I’ve learned something, so thanks to you all again.
in reply to: Malamor – Sharing your techniques #11707Greetings all,
This isn’t exactly the same as the mix I submitted but it’s close enough and shows you some of the stuff (technical terminology) I used in that mix.
in reply to: Carsten Dolar – Dead To The World #10700Hi Carsten, I used Reaper too, but I think that’s where the similarities end. Your mix sounds so much more open than mine, especially the vocals. Great job!
in reply to: Sebastian Spiller – Dead To The World Mix #10561Hi Sebastian, I really know nothing about this genre, but from the outside looking in I enjoyed your mix, especially the separation and width.
in reply to: DTTW “mixed” by Spy #10529Greetings cdolar, let me start by saying I honestly have no idea about what is and what is not considered to be ‘good’ in Death Metal, I literally had no frame of reference. So, to answer your question, I have CLA Guitars inserted on the individual tracks, which are summed to a sub group and paralleled (sent) to Guitar Rig and all of that is sent to another buss with IK’s Comprexxor and smartEQ3 in series. Over processed? Probably, but like I said, I was fumbling around in the dark on this one…
