in reply to: WINNERS ANNOUNCED? #11912

I was actually just wondering the same thing. Actually kind of forgot that it was supposed to be coming up on the 17th. I wonder when they’ll announce it.

On the bass: there’s the Pulsar Smasher comp everywhere. Before the amp sim, after the amp sim, on the bus. Basically I compressed the living shit out of it and then EQed it. The bass is also a mix of the original bass amp track and the DI with a ProCo Rat and Ampeg SVT sim added to it.

On the vocals, there’s a touch of reverb on the backing vocals but nothing super crazy. Just enough to give them a little space in the mix. All 3 vocal tracks also have the Pulsar Smasher comp on them.

On drums, Pulsar Smasher is all over the place again (it’s my go-to comp) and there’s some EQing on some parts just to try to add some punch to them.

I have the SMG Cock Blocker on most of my tracks to clean up noise.

On the master bus, there’s a Drawmer S73 vst. It glues everything together and adds a little extra polish to the mix.

Surprisingly, the only thing I did next to nothing to in the mix is the guitars. I panned them, made sure they sat right in the mix, added the Cock Blocker to get rid of excess noise and that’s literally it. I actually liked how they sounded out of the box so I didn’t want to go too crazy with EQing them or anything like that.

    Well done, Scott.

Also, I’m fan of your channel. It’s cool to see you here.

I definitely think you reached your goal on this one. It’s raw, keeps true to the original tracks, and has just enough polish to it. Love the drums on this one as well.

I dig the bass sound on this one. The overall mix is also just this wall of brutality in the best kind of way. Nice job!

This is a very nice mix. Everything sits really well in this mix and it has a nice level of polish to it without taking away from the song. Well done.

I like this mix. The raw but polished approach is similar to what I did on my mix.

Those drums sound awesome! Especially that bass drum. Sounds like a machine gun when he kicks into the double bass pattern. Really nice mix.

If we’ve already made a thread for our entry, are we allowed to post it in here too? I don’t want to get disqualified for double posting or anything like that. This is my first mix contest on here so I figured I’d ask before I accidently do something stupid.

I liked the sticks. I thought they add personality to it and kind of give you a second of “Oh shit, where’s this going?”
