in reply to: ED THORNE MIX – “It’s been emotional!” #20613
I deleted my entry. I tweaked the mix after the podcast episode (https://youtu.be/QbQ_u_Oiryw?si=OTxsj7WXPjhvEfFQ) and I ruined it. I will probably upload a new version to YouTube but it won’t be in the competition, I fucked that opportunity – Lol.
in reply to: Ci-Remix – Another Love song #19417Great creative vision and re-orchestration!
Thanks, RocketMusic! That was the brief I set myself and I think we nailed it!
I love that you found it relaxing! Even the intensity of the epic guitar solo?
Hi DALA, Thanks for the feedback. What might you have done differently to fix this?
Cheers, Ron. Good luck.
Thanks Emil, appreciate the the comment.
Haha. The beer “removes the fizz” out of the guitar sound ;-) Thanks for the kind words!
Yeh, man! Some tasty, musical ideas here. Good drumming too! I’d love your feedback on my production, I think we went in a similar vein: https://ratemymix.com/topic/ed-thorne-full-band-production-lianne-kaye-glow-lady-a-meets-tim-mcgraw/page/2/#post-15985

in reply to: Lianne Kaye – Glow Production by David Langhard #16004Yeh, man! Love the 16th note triplet drums fills, and the guitar solo. I played similar fill on mine. Would love your feedback on it: https://ratemymix.com/topic/ed-thorne-full-band-production-lianne-kaye-glow-lady-a-meets-tim-mcgraw/page/2/#post-15985

I considered strings on my rock/country version but decided to focus on guitars and hammond organs instead. I’d love your feedback on my production: https://ratemymix.com/topic/ed-thorne-full-band-production-lianne-kaye-glow-lady-a-meets-tim-mcgraw/page/2/#post-15985

Hi Ron, Thanks for the compliment. You’ve got a good vocal presence there, it’s a nice intimate mix at the beginning. The kick sample is a little muddy for me, maybe a high pass to 40Hz, an EQ cut from about 130/140 to 300/400, and an EQ boost at 3-5k would help find its space. It’s subjective of course :-)
