This definitely keeps the feel of the contest tracks while still adding some lovely elements to it, plus I always enjoy tasteful percussion in a song
    congrats on a great production

I like how you have the electric guitars lower in the mix, for most of the song, and pull them up just when they need to hit
Everything’s got just enough energy & punch to it to really make an impact

I really like how hard the chorus hits on your mix, definitely a nice guitar driven mix, I feel like you mixed the drums (especially the kick and toms) way better than I did

This was a pretty in your face kind of mix, which I always enjoy, great job

The ambient parts definitely add something lovely to the song, as much as I’d have added a simple piano in the solo/bridge section I really can’t fault you for bringing out the emotion in the song in such a subtle/beautiful way.
Great job, I thoroughly enjoyed it

    That was just cool.
I went for the typical rock centric approach to this so your’s comes out of left field in such a fun/enjoyable way for me… I’m quite envious of your production top to bottom

I really enjoyed your production, the stand outs for me were the lead guitar & bass (tone & playing), and I always like the approach of letting the last chorus kick off with acoustics only. Great work!

Yeah, I was going back and forth with the final stages of compression, when I mix/master my own stuff I have a tendency to either under or over compress/limit the final product, so I’m still trying to find the sweet spot. In hindsight my last stage (a soft clipper and brick wall limiter) could have their thresholds pulled back by 1-2 db each.
Thanks for your constructive and positive comments, this was the first full mix I’ve had the time to do in half a year to a year, so I was a little worried it’d be lacking

Thanks, I’m glad my recently tweaked vocal chain worked out in a decent way

I like the sound of the bass within the bulk of your mix, it cuts really nicely and compliments the guitars pretty well. I also really like the effects you used for transitions, it kept my interest in the song and made me want to go back to hear the section(s) again.

Good job on your mix, and best of luck with the contest

Considering this is your first time in a mix contest, I’d say you did a pretty decent job. I feel like you generally have a good balance, the kick is a little overpowering in the faster double-kick sections, but it sounds like you managed to get the 2 kicks sounding pretty good together, which was a struggle for me. In general the rawer sound of everything feels like I’m just listening in on a rehearsal, which is nice to hear.

Good job and best of luck with your entry
