This is my attempt at mixing Dead to the World, which was a really nice song to work with and was a lot of fun for me.
I’ve already heard some great mixes of this song, and can’t wait to hear more.
Wow! I like the vocals, they’re brutal! Fits the style great.
This got a different rhythm and feeling… i like that …
Nice! I like vocal processing
Seriously in your face mix! The energy is unmistakable but maybe you went a bit overboard with the compression on the master bus. It does sound cool in my headphones but I have a feeling it’s going to sound pretty boomy on bigger speakers. Still, with this kind of metal I prefer a mix where the instruments are fighting to be heard rather than it being dull and sterile.
Thanks, I’m glad my recently tweaked vocal chain worked out in a decent way
Yeah, I was going back and forth with the final stages of compression, when I mix/master my own stuff I have a tendency to either under or over compress/limit the final product, so I’m still trying to find the sweet spot. In hindsight my last stage (a soft clipper and brick wall limiter) could have their thresholds pulled back by 1-2 db each.
Thanks for your constructive and positive comments, this was the first full mix I’ve had the time to do in half a year to a year, so I was a little worried it’d be lacking
