    You know, I thought about going darker.

    During mastering, I referenced a number of my favorite mixes in modern heavy genres – stuff from Will Putney, Dan Lancaster, and Carl Bown – and a lot of their stuff is even brighter than this. Did you reference this against anything as a comparison? If so, what song? I’m always super curious about everyone’s favorite songs/mixes.

    I appreciate the feedback. I’ll give it another listen with less of a bright tonal shape and see if I agree with ya’!

    I think this is a really cool spot to be. I also liked the stick clicks in that gap…in the end I took ’em out, though!

    I’d love to hear more of the body/grunty/snarly midrange. That 300-500hz range maybe? I think SO MUCH of that stuff is in these sources so it’s easy to take too much of it out. Try adding some back in. I think you’d be in great shape even just tackling that on the master bus!
