Thank you so much, Tom! Glad you liked it.
in reply to: Leo Peña (Jotun Studio) – Dead to the World Mix #11136Hi, fellas! Thanks again for the comments and feedback!
DjAbthrash, glad you liked it in general, thanks! I think the low and mid distortion is due to the bass, which was distorted as a whole, not by bands. Regarding the mix, I mastered it and maybe it was a bit squashed. Thanks for the constructive criticism!
Rentaroot, thanks! I like toms to sound round and big, but also with attack and energy, not an easy task, hehe.
Dom, thanks, man! Yeah, I was debating between getting them bigger or not, and with so much double kick drum I thought going for the clicky way was the best. If I had had more time (I began mixing the last Thursday available…) I would have automated the eq on kicks to have them bigger in the slower parts, but it was a tedious task and didn´t have much time left…
in reply to: Shaun Schwanke- Dead To the World Mix/Remix #10995Hey, Shaun, that´s a great mix, man!
I really like what you did with the drums, taking so much time to polish them that way. It´s hard work!
I like the bass tone a lot too.
The only thing is that the overheads on the drum sound a bit mono to me. At least not wide panned, you can notice that on the crash hits. Besides that, drums sound quite good.
Congrats and good luck!

Shaun, yeah. I made a mix between the original one and the sample so it was a bit more dynamic, as the original has some hits that are quite low and others that are quite loud. Maybe I should have leveled it a bit more, you´re right. I will check your mix right now.
Carl, thanks, man! Glad you liked it in general and that you dig the effects.
in reply to: Leo Peña (Jotun Studio) – Dead to the World Mix #10705Thanks a lot again for all your comments!
Eduloko, glad you think that! I tried to make it sound tight but natural at the same time.
Alexey, thanks!!
Dom, glad you liked it. I dialed the bass tone with the Neural DSP Darkglass plugin, great sounding one.
in reply to: Leo Peña (Jotun Studio) – Dead to the World Mix #9355Thanks a lot, AFoolishSeb! Glad you liked the way it sounds.
Serge, thanks! Glad you liked the drums. I tried to blend the original ones with samples that matched and didn´t sound too overprocessed, but added some “modern” flavour to it.
FlorianPiet, thanks, man! Same here, I tried to work on the original ones, cleaning and processing them and added some cool MIDI toms but I edited all the fills (snare and toms) so that it sounded close to the original one.
Kampa, thanks too! Yeah, man, I didn´t have much time (began mixing yesterday because I was too busy and almost had to skip the contest) and maybe I could have tried to make it sound a bit less compressed (not sure if the problem is on the real or the sampled one).
Thanks again to all of you. Cheers and good luck!
in reply to: Scott Elliott – Dead to the World (Mix) #9153This one is insane, Scott! Great work, man, and good luck, though you don´t deserve it. Good luck to everyone else too!
