I actually have the rooms panned hard left and right and the overheads only slightly inward. Perhaps with the guitars more forward and also i put a little stereo widening on them it is creating the feeling that the rooms and overheads are more centered. Appreciate the comments especially regarding the vocals burying the cymbals a tad…will keep an ear out for that next time. Always good to have another perspective and set of ears on things. Thanks!

I have been a guitarist for many many years. It was my first instrument i learned before picking up the drums long long ago. Perhaps some of that has seeped through here subconsciously, although oddly in my own productions people tend to think i am more drum-centric. Thanks for the comments!

Really punchy drum, you made the trig sound even more 90’s than the original ! Maybe the drum could have been more glued to the other tracks. But it’s a cool mix anyway :-)

Thank you so much. I was trying to make the entire mix slamming and brutal. Appreciate the feedback, let me know on the low end. Always love to hear that type of feedback.

Damn more 90’s than 90’s on the kick lmao. Mission accomplished. All joking aside i was struggling with trying to get the entire mix working together, back and forth with more organic drums, then i felt they got buried, so then i went the other route and processed the shit out of them…perhaps too far. I don’t know why but i had Deicide, Once Upon The Cross album mentally in my head as a reference. Thanks for the listen.

The low end/bass sounds solid, but I think it’s too loud in the balance of the rest of the mix. If you brought it down everything else would come up a bit louder overall to even it out. It was definitely a challenging mix with some of those tracks though, so nice job!

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. Always a struggle to get that low-end just right. And yes these tracks were a bit rough to deal with, not exactly ideal. The guitar tone baked in was broootal to deal with, and that left kick drum was gnarly to say the least.

Good job man!!! I definitely noticed the toms and kicks right away… MUCH cleaner sounding drums as a whole!! nice touch on the bass drops and vocal delay too!!

Altho samples bring their own set of problems as well.. AKA Lacking dynamics a bit.. But with how clean you got the thing to sound I feel like it’s a good trade off… XD

And you’re not alone on the back and forth… I spent a very unreasonable amount of hours between my uncertainty and my 2011 i5 Macbook w/6 go of ram… In the end you gotta use what you have so…..I was really missing my M1 mac mini or even my 2009 mac pro tower…ha ha ha
But hey!! I managed to get it done…I feel like anything’s possible now XD

Anyhoo sorry for the novel.. Well done, I quite dig you mix!!!

Good Luck to you and everyone reading this!!!!

Thanks for the kind words. The struggle was real on this one. I did enjoy the process although there were some moments where i was thinking…damn is the juice worth the squeeze lol (mainly on the drums). Good luck to you as well.

hi shaun, the mix is rocking!

my only nitpick would be the guitars are a hair too loud, so it’s taking some headroom. i’m not famkliar with the style so take it with a grant of salt.

thanks for commenting on my mix!

Thanks, you are probably right. Some others have mentioned it is a little guitar forward/ guitar-centric. I debated bringing them down, and then waffled back and forth. Thanks for the listen and the critique, always nice to get outside perspectives.

Thank you! I really tried to make it really big and powerful. Vocals on this were the easiest part to mix, i felt they were recorded the best from this session for sure. Thanks for the listen, and the comments.
