Yeah man, you are absolutely right.
In the meantime I had the opportunity to listen to my mix with fresh ears on good monitors in a kind of treated room .. and yes, there is a definitely room for improvement ;-)
Also the drums are maybe a little bit to “loud&proud” and the voice has some harshness in the upper mid frequencies that annoys me when listening “loud”.
But overall I am not unhappy,- on my headphone it sounds OK.

I really like your version.
Cool idea to reduce the begin of the song to some “country essentials”.
I also like your mix when there is “all in”.
Maybe it would be more “radio like” if the pause resulting on the stop at 0:42 would be a bit shorter.
