Ha! Thanks Riccardo and Matt. Yeah I had to dig deep into my bag of tricks to get the toms (and all the drums) right. The overall vibe I went with is “the way I wished most of the late 90’s/early 2000’s NY Hardcore/metalcore bands (before it was called metalcore) that I listened to back then were mixed”. I feel like Malamor has more in common with that scene than traditional death metal or grindcore. They have those groovy vibes and funky beats and actually quite catchy vocals compared to most death metal in my opinion. Overall it was really interesting to see how to update the sound of something recorded 25 years ago with some modern tricks without taking it way too far (at least I think I didn’t?). I don’t envy the judges here. A lot of really impressive and very different mixes to sift through.

in reply to: Riccardo Semino Favro – Dead To The World Mix #9688Nice one!
in reply to: Manuel Herrera – Dead to the World mix #9684Not there. Looks like you had the same issue as I did with Soundcloud removing it. Still time to repost on YouTube!
in reply to: Sebastian Duckstein – Dead To The World Mix #9680Sounds pretty huge! Nice job especially without any drum sample help (and never having mixed death metal before).
in reply to: Michael Phillips – Dead To The World – Mix #9672Had a problem with Soundcloud removing the file for copyright issues. Not sure why so many others have been able to do that and not me. Anyway here it is on YouTube!
