in reply to: Mcsnert’s mix of James Dupre’s – Another Love Song #23324
The decision to put the electric guitars more upfront really gave an interesting twist to this one, I do think you went just a bit to deep with the deeser on the esses but very nice mix overall.
Yay BASS!
in reply to: I hope this works! Bernie remix James Dupre #23321As asked I’m here to reply back, I see you’re indeed all about this open sound lol. You almost turned the song into a tinydesk concert version which is quite special and interesting. My only point of criticism about this version is that at times the removal of some of the instruments hurts the development of the song just a bit, but mostly I do think you did justice with the approach you took.
in reply to: Milos Mihajlovic – MIX #22482Nice mix, I would have liked to hear the vocals shine a bit more (they’re a bit too dark and quiet for my taste), but the automations are seriously awsome.
in reply to: James Dupre – Another Love Song, another mix… #22479Very solid mix, I do feel like there’s too much compression on the master as the bass drum is pumping the track too much for my taste and the dynamic range is quite low making it a bit harder to sit through the constantly kicking song. However, when it’s kicking it’s kicking, whioch is a hard thing to achieve on its own so good job about that.
in reply to: Benjamin Žagar – Another Love Song MIX #22476Another one of my favourites, the only real issue I have is with the vocals which feel a bit harsh and deatached from the rest of the instrument but it’s a small fix relatively to the great job you did on the rest of the track.
You just became one of my favourites, I would say there is too much effects on the vocals at time for my taste, but great job overall.
Nice mix, I do feel like a bit more compression, especially on the drums, would create more order and fit the style more but it’s also a matter of styling and preference. I really liked the automation on the effects.
The added piano is quite original and nice. I’ll have to note one issue which is that there is too much de-essing on the vocals, but gj overall.
Lol, this is crazy! Nice reharm ;)
in reply to: Arthur Giraudon – Another Love Song – MIX #22450Indeed a nice mix, I agree with Herwig about the automation and I’ll add that I think the toms could use a bit more compresion to tame their rumble a little, and it seems like everytime the snare hits there’s a bit too much pumping for my taste (I assume it’s from a mix bus over compressing/limiting but I don’t know how you went about it) maybe it’s intentional because it does fit the genre as a concept, just a bit too much for my taste as said. Good job.
Replying to bernie: I’m not sure what you mean, assuming you’re talking about compresion I just think it’s part of the genre’s style, but as you said it’s also a matter of preference, at the end the results will depend on what the guys above us think so you never know…
It’s funny, I had a friend who said the opposite, I guess that’s where different stylings come into play… edit: replying to mcsnert
