in reply to: Ted Brennan Mix – Another Love Song #18565
Hi Ted! To me, the mix needs more balancing. I think you could switch the lap steel with the vocal in volume. The vocals are too quiet and have too much reverb to my taste.
The mix also feels a bit centered. Maybe you could work the stereo placement a little better.
Keep it up!
Hi David! To me, the bass is too loud and it’s masking the whole mix :(
Maybe if you turned down the bass by a few dbs, the mix would sound more upfront. From what I can hear, it seems that you have a good balance behind all this low end information. Let me know if you think this feedback is valid!
Also, if you can, check mine version and let me know your thoughts on it. Keep it up!
in reply to: TwilightBiscuit – Another Love Song – Mix #18550Loved the energy on this mix! I’d only turn down the guitars a little bit. Specially in the chorus, the guitars and keys are covering the vocals since they’re in a very similar frequency range. Overall, great job! Good luck!
in reply to: Another Love Song – James Dupre – Leo Brum Mix #18458Thanks! Good luck to you!
Very clean mix. Good luck!
Nice job! I’d turn down the hi hat and over head mics. They’re sounding a bit too loud to my taste and they’re making the drums less punchy. I’m hearing the cymbals overtaking the transients, specially the snare.
In the bridge section, I loved how clean you made the lap steel sound.
in reply to: James Dupre-Another Love Song – Miles Rengel Mix #18449Wow, that sounds super wide!
To me, you could work a bit more on the upper bass/ low mids region. Specially when the chorus starts, since there are too many things happening at the same time, the mix sounds muddy. The drums loses punch and definition. Something there is taking too much space. Maybe it’s the acoustic guitar that’s too heavy on the lows.
I’d love to hear your feedback on mine too! Thanks and keep it up!
in reply to: BRETT TROUT ANOTHER LOVE SONG MIX ENTRY #18446Hey Brett! Nice work. To me, it sounds a little bit over-compressed. But the tonal balance is very interesting and I loved the delay throws you did on the vocals. I’d love to know your opinion on my version!
Hey, my friend! I’d suggest investing in some studio monitors. I think you could work more on balancing the instruments. The instrumental sounds a little dark and confusing. The drums sounds good! Nice sounding snare. But the rest of the instrumental/ vocals needs a bit more work.
Try to play around just with the faders to set a good balance before opening an eq, compressors. Keep it up!

in reply to: This is my 12th mix :) Please have a listen :) #18380Really nice energy on the drums. I’d only turn down the room mics a little but that’s personal taste! Nice job!
Great job! I found very interesting the different edits you made especially in the bridge section. The tom fill you added at the end sounded very nice and musical. The vocal delay sounded a little bit loud to my taste. But overall, very pleasing sounding mix! Good luck.
