“Why does Vocal sit behind the guitars?” – That’s a strange question, because I don’t get that impression here. Which HP are you listening to?

Hi bernardo, you’ve taken some big mix options. I don’t know why I hear a lot of presence problems on many tracks? Maybe it’s an artistic choice? The biggest problem I hear on first listen is the drums, which are in a reverb and sound as if you haven’t put the direct signal. Just the Wet and not the Dry signal. Which DAW did you mix with and which speaker did you use?

Very Nice mix!! ! maybe a little too much high midrange on the lead guitar (the one on the right).

I like the mix but the sound is pretty harsh here on my Neumann KH120s, same on the Auratone C5s. Which speaker do you use?

The sound is warm and analog. Personally, I would have turned the battery up a little louder, but that’s a matter of taste ;-)

In Reaper, the shine quickly becomes unpleasant, and you have to pay a lot of attention to it. Reaper also quickly gives you a bump at 200Hz, which you have to manage without draining energy.

The sound is special! Much too bright for me and lacks relief. What DAW do you use to mix? Like Reno & me, you should share the video of your session, so everybody could give you some mixing tips and tricks ;-)

big difference in volume between the “Soundcloud” version and “Youtube”. It seems that YouTube doesn’t like signals that are too compressed!

I like mixers who share videos of their sessions. It lets you know how the DAW and the mixer’s referred plugins sound. Thanks to Reno.

I hope I won’t be the only one to share my method! That’s what these forums are all about.

Listening to the final mix is great, but knowing how to get the result is even better. For my mix, it’s easy to understand because I do everything “all in the box”. The plugins I use perfectly complement Reaper’s slightly too silky side, but also its lack of energy at the bottom (which Logic naturally offers. When I mix in protools, I more quickly get relief in the brightness, so with Reaper, I have to spend time managing the whole top of the sound spectrum to get a nice transparency. The result is well managed and allows you to listen at high volume, through headphones or speakers.

When people tell me there’s no difference in sound from one DAW to another ! ! Listening to your mix, I immediately recognized the Reaper sound. You have to choose your EQ carefully to get a clear, transparent sound in Reaper. When I mix in protools, I use other EQs. And others again when I was using Logic.
