Thanks for sharing your feedback on this! Really appreciate the insight.

Just wondering what you are mixing on? are you on monitors and if so what brand? Its prudent to mention that I mix on headphones due to lack of space in my house for a dedicated workstation, and wonder that the reason for your mix sounding bright and mine sounding dull is down to A: my being on headphones and B: my reference level for mastering being too high, thus driving my EQ choices on the final mix.

Look forward to hearing from you, and thanks again for the insight!

    Best,

Solid Mix Man! Really like the space and definition! I don’t think that the compression spoils this mis at all, everything is glued together nicely, I do feel that it could do with a bit more content below 80hz just a bit of grunt to beef it up would be nice. I think that the mids are a bit hot for me, just around the 900/1.2K mark, which is hard as that is the space that the vocal, guitar, acoustic and banjo are all fighting for!

Overall a very clean and defined mix sir! Well done!

I would really appreciate any feedback you have on my mix if you get the chance. Thanks Chap!

    Hey Rob!

Tagging back in following feedback from my mix. I like the balance, vocal is sitting a bit far back for my taste, I like the cymbal width but again just for my taste i think they are a bit hot around the 2K mark, also sounds like the group compression is causing a bit of ‘pumping’ reckon that the attack was slow and the release fast?

I feel that the relationship between kick to bass and bass to guitars is a bit lost, I can hear the low end and its well controlled but again feel there is a bit of a hole between 80 and 100hz.
I know that this track was difficult to preserve and control dynamics across the board, but you’ve done well here man! Well done! and Good luck!

Nice Mix man! I do feel for me the vocal is a bit too upfront for me, noticed that the same issue I had with this is present around the 2.05 mark, summation of around 10k that presents as a squeak, i’m listening on headphones so not sure how much this peaks through. nice mix though chap! well done! Would appreciate any feedback you have for my attempt.
