A picture of a chainsaw for a death metal song? Sign me up! For being a beginner, this is a great effort, man. I wish my stuff sounded like this when I was a beginner.

    Hey Jeff,
Man, that bass is just slapping me in the face. Real punchy. Cool commitment to the original kicks, gives it a unique pulse in the low end. Nice!

Hey man, the instrument mix isn’t too bad, but I’d consider backing off on the reverb a bit… kinda puts the vocals in the back and buries them in the mix. I see the “Noxxisbun” — was this the same account from the mix that had vocals solo’d that I just commented on?

Nice effect with the intro, that was a cool dynamic change! This mix just sounds evil! \m/

Sounds like you put some extra vocals on there or something… hope you post the mix again so we can check it out!

Hey John, well done and straight down the middle with this one. Interesting you went with the actual kick drums in all of their glory because of how differently tuned they are. Your snare sounds like you put some distortion or something on it. Anyway, brutal as hell. Very evil sounding!

Hey Nic, this one is good. Feels very authentic to the source material, like it was mixed right in 1997. Also enjoyed some of the panning decisions you made with the vocals. Nice work! \m/

I like this mix quite a bit. Good balance, and that gnarly/throaty bass tone is excellent. Nice work, man!

    Hey man!
Sounding pretty old school, although perhaps have a look at the compressor on the snare? Seems pretty intense where the snare is kind of like paper a bit. As somebody else mentioned here, the mix is nice and wide, though, and I like that as well!

    Hey man,
I’ve made plenty of mistakes like that. Classic one is doing EQ with the plugin disabled and swearing up and down that I hear a difference! This mix sounds old school and definitely catches the vibe. I enjoyed it! \m/

Hey man, did you do something extra to the guitars? They seem extra chunky and crunchy! Did you run it through some extra distortion or something like that? \m/

Hey man, nice one! That bass is really thick in the mix–can feel that lowend everywhere! This gives me definite old school vibes… I could see myself as a kid with a Discman chilling with something like this in the player ;)

Hey man, I like this one. On C4 I’d probably bring up the Mid node a touch… but that’s just me, there’s nothing horrible here, except that crash cymbal (when it’s being ridden) it’s a bit harsh… I had a tough time dealing with that one, too. Sounds legit and old school, though!

Hey man, can definitely hear your 80s/90s death metal influence. I’d say you pretty much nailed it, although I’d see about possibly backing off on the compressor a touch on the drums. The kick drum really spits out here and there sometimes, same with the snare. However, I love that reverb on the drums… it’s definitely 80s/90s for sure, man. You nailed that part. \m/

    Hey man,

Very energetic with the high end; I’d say that the bass is definitely 3-5dB louder than anything else in the mix right now so it’s hard to hear everything else. The bass sounds killer; the non-mastered version on the page sounded more balanced to me. But hey, if my mixes sounded like this for “first mix” when I started mixing metal, I’d be very happy with myself, haha.
