Everyone here has already done so, and streaming uploads were required to enter the contest. The song has been cleared definitely. YouTube knew my video was copyrighted material but mentioned the rights holder had allowed it to be shared. Obviously I would refrain from claiming any kind of original work or involvement with the artist, and I’d be transparent about how you obtained the multitracks, but otherwise have at it.

That’s the whole reason I did a mix because it sounded like a great song to have in my portfolio.

That’s a smarta** way of putting it, but you are correct that the snare is far too hot. The mix I submitted to the contest was ruined by too many hasty last-minute revisions I didn’t have time for. I ended up having a couple old plugins that didn’t recall correctly and reset to default values and I didn’t catch it before I submitted the mix.

Even though it’s too late to fix my submission for the contest, I can still fix the version I’ll keep in my portfolio, so here is a revised mix.

I’m a big fan of Ed Seay and Chuck Ainlay, and I loved Joe Carrell’s original mix of the song, but my heart is still in 90’s Nashville so my idea was to have the production have one foot in that world. Not sure how well I pulled it off, but what a fun mix!
