Hey Boralustral ! Yeah it’s totally natural nowadays to replace this kind of snare. But i like this very high tone punch, remember joey jordison snare tone !
But i triggered it with the liquid death snare plugin tuning an octave down and slighty blend with the original just to sit better in the mix and add some punch in the low. Glad to hear we don’t hear the sample !

Hi riffomancer ! You’re totally right, it’s a bit harsh because this is my way to reach a certain old school flavour. Plus the original mix is very bright so i think the band love highs hehe. I probably do not this on a modern metal production but it’s 1996.

Sounds brutal !! Nice pumping effect !
Like this snare, but it’s a little off to me. Heavily triggered and processed drums sounds too modern. Vocals are a bit quiet.
But man, it’s taste ! What a great mix.

I miss the kick, back vocals are too loud and piercing. Overall mix is a little boxy.
You’re not far away to have a very good mix to me, you have the vibe !

I like this DI bass sound, nice low end too !
Very nice sound here… but a bit dull, i feel a lack of aggressiveness. I think the balance is a little off, vocal is too forward in the mix like a pop mix, it sucks the power of the song. Need more guitars and drums more fat (except kick) !
It’s a great work overall man !
