thank you bud, really appreciate the comment, and although subjective the snare is intended to be a little dry and up front and is an intended mixing decision based on the arrangement and my choice of style. that’s the beauty about mixing, intention on what the producer hears.

Lol ! not my usual style though I always learn new things by mixing different genre out of my comfort zone !
Here is my entry to the – Malamor – Dead To The World 2022 Contest (organised by Rate My Mix)
I enjoyed the mix and kept all the original samples except for the kick and ended up layering the snare slightly at about 30% with a clean sample. Other than that I tried to keep the original feel recorded in 1997 on Neve Console and added a touch of spice and subtle effects to the dark vocal textures.
Good luck to all the other contestants out there and whatever the outcome, I am sure we all learned from mixing this one and perhaps something out of our comfort range. Though I honestly only speak for myself and try not to make any assumptions 😊
