Hello all, here is my take on the track:

My goal was to mix the track to modern standards, while still retaining the feel of the original. Kinda like how it would sound if an old school death metal band recorded in a present day studio :). I like a balanced, even sound with a decent chunk of low end, so that’s what I tried to do.

Did some cleaning up of the track, minor editing (didn’t need much, these guys played pretty tight and didn’t want it sounding robotic).
Drums took some work. Crafted a kick sound with the original stems fortified by some blended in samples. Tried to make it sound 90’s. Rest is natural, added some mild reverb.
Guitars are compressed, saturated and EQed, nothing major.
Bass is a blend of the original amptrack and a reamped DI.
Vocals had some flair added to them via delay and some panning automation, basic de-essing and compression.
Mastered it with additional tube saturation, not too loud, wanted to retain dynamics.

Let me know what you guys think, I’m pretty new to this so any pointers would be welcome!

    This is a bump ;)

Heard some killer mixes already, nice idea that we’ve all been working on this track together.

i like how we both had more or less a very similar intention and yet our mixes sound quite different. very much a raw mix, works well with the genre. guitars maybe a feel a bit buried, however. bringing out the highs around 1,7k and 6k will do the trick nicely. bass sounds true to the original but with added bite and presence with tasteful distortion. i especially like the darker kick sound, the drums in general are in your face and presence. could maybe used some parallel comp on the snare to make the snare cut through better, especially with the rimshots. well done my friend, best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback bro, appreciate it! Will give your mix a listen too, curious how different it sounds.

Edit: lol I already did… I definitely hear similarities but we both put our own mark on it for sure

I like how this mix is a bit darker than a lot of the other entries, makes it stand out a bit

Thanks, yeah I noticed that too. Definitely a matter of taste, mixes that are too bright sound fatigueing faster to me
