Hi all,
seem I am a little late to teh game this time around. So here we go!
And since I am here I will directly check out some of your entries :-)This must be the best recorded multitracks I have ever encountered. Thank you PLAP, Joe Carrell, and of course James Dupre for making this contest happen!
All the best of luck to everyone
I listened to your track, I really liked it, the guitars are just powerful!
Best regards, BorisI am a guitarist myself, I cannot help it :-P
Thank you so much for your commentI like that the guitars have come to the fore.
Good mix Philipp. Wish you best of luck.
Nice mix Philipp
A well-balanced, powerful and dense mix! Could it be, that the kick drums is ducking-out some of the cymbals (through the compressor)?
Good luck to you.
Thanks all for teh kind words!
@rentaroot: That may very well be. Thanks for spotting this! I usually would have kept ~4 db more DR but it just did not feel right and in-turn I basically cooked the song hotter than I normally would. I am generally not too happy with the drums, they lack low end “gravitas” as they say. Probably should have used a quicker attack time on the drum buss.Could you tell me how you embedded your song directly from Soundcloud?
Sure. Just either click copy link on soundcloud, or first share then copy that link (should be the same link) and paste that straight into the comment field.
Simple as that.
Hope it helped youHave a great day
You really have a way of bringing many elements to the front, and getting them all heard and present.
Nice mix, feels very unique. Drums feel really soft and weak though. Lots of lost energy there. The feel of the mix overall has a real cool vibe though.
Hope you can check out my mix as well. Good luck!Thank you so much @MixMZ! I at least tried to do exactly that. I think lots of that actually is my outrageous master bus processing. I usually don’t do that on the mix as a whole but thought the song really needed it.
@Aersion thank you so much for the kind words! And yes, as I already wrote earlier in a post, I am super unhappy with the drums. My guess without checking the settings is, that I have too long a attack setting on the drum bus compressor, and that I was to shy of boosting low end on the shells. I really new to work on my drums mixing.
Will now check your mic as well, of course! :-) -
