Thank you. My pops had excellent taste and always had the rock and roll and blues greats spinning on a turntable. When starting to explore music myself, I discovered Nirvana through MTV and had to learn guitar. Through that people that showed me punk rock, hardcore, and metal. If you like the vibe of this track’s guitars, try albums like “The Argument” by Fugazi, “Billy Talent” by Billy Talent, “The Great Cold Distance” by Katatonia, or “Career Suicide” by A Wilhelm Scream.

Very cool! Great job taking this into the metal genre. Excellent guitar and drum work.
My only comment might be making the drums pop a bit more in the mix… (and we need Lianne to add some growls and screams in spots! lol)

Thank you! On the drums there’s certainly some influence by 00’s era Brooks Wackerman, some Jimmy Chamberlin, some Abe Cunningham, and some Dave Grohl.

My partner and I appreciate your feedback. We are always searching for ways to improve. We’ve been keeping to ourselves so we’re admittedly in a feedback void beyond our clients. If you aren’t bothered by a few paragraphs, I’ll share some of our logic to provide some context on how we arrived on this mix across a few successive posts to allow for focused and manageable replies.

Out of the gate, all of us are up against the codecs utilized by the MP3 file format. Those of us electing to upload MP4 to Youtube universally share a similar change to our mixes so it’s never occurred to me to consider that. My current client base presses physical releases in the form of vinyl and, less common with each year, CD. We do factor separate masters for vinyl. To date, we don’t factor MP3/MP4 format alterations to the primary 96kHz 32 bit WAV masters beyond potentially managing intersample peaks after downsampling and format conversion, if at all. We’ve also never been asked to mix and/or master for MP3/MP4. Should we care about those MP3/MP4 losses? I don’t know that the heavyweights do.

As far as context for what we had as targets, we like showing artists possibilities within themselves they didn’t consider before or know that they had it in them. When listening to Lianne’s performance, I showed my partner and we mutually agreed that it would be rad to hear her in the context of something that would fit mainstage at the Louder Than Life or Aftershock festivals here in the US. Neither of us speculate that she has any ambition to change her brand, but there’s an untapped audience reach there and Lianne’s message would be beneficial to that audience. We see it as a no risk opportunity for her in that regard.
