Lianne Kaye – Glow (Nef Remix)

The creative process is weird.

I only used the lead vocals track because I wanted to come up with my own harmonization and I had a lot of fun with it. Since I worked out the chords and experimented with my guitar, I gravitated towards a rock mix. A couple of hours later I had a pretty clear plan of what I wanted the song to sound like.

A few days later I returned to the project, listened to it a few times, and kept singing along instead of actually doing anything with it. Suddenly all I wanted to do was to scrap everything and write a piano accompaniment that simply carries Lianne’s voice.

The only other added parts are a low strings and a low synth track following the bass and adding some depth and warmth. Some minimal processing later the result felt right, even though it seems to me I’ve barely done anything.
