My mix. Yeah I know it’s a bit too mono, but I personally just don’t like when there’s different information (guitar part) in each ear, a bit distracting. Tried creating fake double for EG2 and pan them hard L and R. It worked okay in stereo, but in mono there was a weird effect created by the haas effect.
Anyway, thanks for listening, would really appreciate your comments and good luck to everyone!I don’t think that your mix sound “mono-ish”! It works well, the balance is good, the solo-parts are in focus, nothing to moan about!
Btw.: I’ve heard so many people using stereo-wideners just for the effect, always sounding harsh and nasty. Forget about that bullshit… ;-)Good luck to you.
I don’t think it suffers at all for being mono-ish… gives it a real punch and something of a 70s punky-vibe (to me, at least).
Thanks for your comment. Yes, the “mono” doesn’t bother me per se, just that a pair of rhythm gtrs panned wide is always cooler :D and pretty much a standard in rock mixing.
And I agree, misuse of stereo wideners is a pandemic. Well I used jst sidewidener on almost every track, except drums, haha, but at least to my ears it caused no problems in the mix.
Thank you for the feedback. 70s punk – cool perspective!
Great open mix! Love it! Love the compression on the drums. Everything has nice space and placement. Cool Room/Dist FX going into the 2nd chorus. Overall, very tasteful!
@andrewcherry thanks for your comment. There is a lot of compression on drums and mixbus indeed.
