Hey all – here’s my submission for the mix contest :)
Cheers!
I like this one. Thank you for not burying the guitar/pedal steel solos with the snare like so many other mixes (including the reference).
Thanks. Really appreciate the positive feedback.
@AmpersandLa. Yes, the reference track had that a bit. But there is so much going on in the song that you have to make choices somewhere, I guess. In my opinion, or better in my mix, I went for the best glue possibilities achievable without letting anything popping out besides the drums and voice. Will check your mix out as well. Well done take_01! Good luck to y’all!
The reference mix helped me to get a beefy snare with enough sustain. It helped remind me to use parallel compression on several elements. I took it too far though, and had to clean up the low-mids.
Hi Dom – nice mix! Sounds pleasing to the ear – retained dynamics and clarity ie not overly crushed. Congrats and good luck :-)
Powerful and dense mix, nice ambiente/rooms. Could it be, that when the chorus hits, the kick is ducking-down the bass a little bit? You’re loosing some of you nice low-end with that, unfortunately… Or is it just the Sondcloud-encoding? ;-)
Good luck to you.
Its a good mix – good luck to you
Great mix Dom, nice work on the backing vocals. Good luck!
Cheers Patrick!
Thanks Arvid! You too :)
Thanks Skytte!
Hey rentaroot! Thanks so much for the lovely compliment. I’m listening right now to see if I can hear what you’re hearing in the chorus, but I can’t detect it. Perhaps it is SoundCloud. Anyhow, thanks again and good luck to you also!
Beautiful mix! Nicely balanced, I can hear everything. Plenty of low end. Drums sound great, might be a bit upfront for me, but music is subjective!
Nit-picking: could use some crispness up top.Great job! Best of luck…
Please give a listen to my mix if you have time…
