Wow, great version! Yeah, I kind of miss the bass guitar, too, but I’m a bassist, so ……… ;-) The punchy drums make up for it, though! I like it!

Nice! What are you using for organ? I’ve been using the Collab3 for a while now and included it in my entry.

@timbo2 Thanks so much for the comment. I was going for something similar to a Toad The Wet Sprocket live album I heard where they paired it down similar to this and it just resonated with me. My dream would be for James to use this version for a live gig if they forget the backing track and want to give the bass a song off. ;) Best of luck to you!

@magno-ludovicus Thanks! I really appreciate your time and the comment. The bass guitar is still there, it’s just on mute. ;) It didn’t fit with the vibe I was going for. thanks again and Best of luck to you!

@jayflaherty75 Thanks! I wanted to make a mysterious, dark sound and took the original track, used eq (sharply cutting it starting at about 450hz), then an exciter (gearing towards warm) and finally modern sounding compression. It was necessary to dial the organ in to get the sound I wanted, but it was also tons of fun trying different ways to do it! I hadn’t used that Collab3 you mentioned. Looks like a pretty useful tool. Good luck to you!

It worked Bernie! Interesting take on it. Vocals are a bit lost for me though. Getting crushed by that kick and snare. Keep mixing!

I like this! It has a cool coffee shop vibe to my ears. The drums sound natural and real, but still have some power. The vocal could be a touch louder, but overall it’s a fun mix! The best part of these contests is seeing how other people approach the same material.

@flattappetsound Thanks so much! I wanted that feel with a little punch added. Although everything sounds amazing and especially the recording quality, the drums are especially amazing and just spoke to me! haha, I had a wonderful time doing this, it was so fun. Although my mix doesn’t sound like it, I wanted Toad the Wet Sprocket Live at Catspaw Studios/’94 -type vibe with some punch. Good luck to you and thanks again!

    Hi Bernie,
Very minimalistic aproach, sounds almost like MTV unplugged. The only thing I would change is to have more bass and more ambience on vocals, as they sounds too dry to me. But anyway great work!
