@dom : thanks for the feedback man ! About those distant vocals : is it a dry/wet thing or an overall volume thing ?
A friend of mine (drummer) checked out my mix & told me that mine sounds not enough natural due to drums. It looks like your mix is really natural sounding & appreciated by metal drummers.
@mishgun : well… Mine sounds more natural for sure, but natural doesn’t always mean better for the listener :)
Pretty sure some people would prefer your drums over mine because they’re more produced/unnatural, while others would prefer them more natural like mine.Yours are less natural but not over the top. They’re still very pleasant to listen to for me (and most people i guess),a nd fit your mix very well (which is the most important) !
I like the overheads and the guitar tone a lot! The vocals are also very clear. The bass could use more distortion, but honestly that’s the original sound still, so it’s just my particular taste. If I had to nit pick I’d say the palm mutes get a little to muddy on the stereo image, but otherwise the balance is great and the overall eq curve sounds very pleasing. Good job and good luck!
Good sounding mix!
@MrMapacheco : thanks man !
@Arvid Nordtveit : thanks !
Good mix right there @djabthrash
I’d be happy with that. Only thing I might do would be bring the main vocals up a tiny amount (nowhere near the amount in my mix though haha). But yeah, overall it sounds nicely rounded.Solid mix Gabriel – it’s cool that you have treated it as a live mix and kept it authentic to the recording. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback !
