Here’s my mix submission for the contest. Soundcloud hit me with a copyright strike, so I had to quickly upload to YouTube with the final minutes ticking. Not a genre I work with or listen to now, but it brought me back to the early 90’s when I did and it was a lot of fun to mix. Great tracks and performances. Good luck to everyone!
Sounds awesome
Reverb (and/or delay) on guitars ?
Appreciate that.
A touch of reverb, sometimes none. Two other sections have flange and dirty tape. Guitars too wet sounding?
I think the guitars sound great. The low-end of the mix could be tightened up but overall pretty decent – nice one!
Thanks for the input. I wanted to work with the low end some more to get it right, but ran out of time.
Very well balanced and tight mix. Especially love the panning and overall sound of the guitars! Nice touch with the flanger. Is it always on, or just in the break? All in all, big thumbs up. 👍
Thanks man. The flange is just on that one break. UVI Shade.. one of my fav fx.
A very cool mix. Nice work.
Thank you Steve
Thanks for listening. I didn’t listen to a ton of Death Metal back then, but Alters of Madness was a fav of mine and kind of the inspiration for my mix. I loved the keyboards and even though it had a muddy low-end, there was just something about the vibe of that record that I enjoyed. Unfortunately, my mix suffers from the same low/low-mid mush. I wasn’t able to get the separation between the kick and bass that I wanted.
Well done! Very oldschool vibe here. I love it. If you got a minute to spare check out my mix here, always looking for constructive criticism.
