Hey thanks @TBachor, yes I found the drums to be a real challenge overall – trying to capture the energy with weight and not swamping everything else – that was the aim anyway!

There are more than 1000 applicants. I really like that everyone produced different results.
I would like to point out to you that I think the mixing of the drums was very well done. It became the central element of the mix.

Nice build-up in the intro. Professional-sounding mix. I like it.

    Good luck to you.

Big chunky drums! As someone who also thought the drums needed to be a major star of the song i appreciate this. The only thing is i’m not sure if it’s on the drum bus or master, but the compression is really full on for the bass drum, my preference would be to side-chain that so the bass drum isn’t moving so the compression as intensely, but that’s a taste thing. I enjoyed being able to hear the ghost notes and the crisp hi-hat!

Thanks @FranW! I appreciate your comments – yes it is possibly over-cooked a little! In the end I preferred that to losing it behind the bass/weighty snare and guitars, although of course less compression may have helped this. Having said that a lot of the bass has been taken out of the comp sidechain so it may be the master bus that is causing what you hear. Anyway, I wanted to ensure the big bass/snare stops punched through. Probably like everyone else I could hear about 300 things that needed tweaking the second I had sent my entry!
