Hi all, please check out my contribution to the Malamor – Dead to the World mix. I tried to keep it authentic and oldschool, since i am a huge fan of 80s/90s death metal. Of course no drum replacement, sampling or other stuff.
great mix! check out my mix as well. Cheers!
Hey man, can definitely hear your 80s/90s death metal influence. I’d say you pretty much nailed it, although I’d see about possibly backing off on the compressor a touch on the drums. The kick drum really spits out here and there sometimes, same with the snare. However, I love that reverb on the drums… it’s definitely 80s/90s for sure, man. You nailed that part. \m/
imo a tad bit too much verb on the snare
otherwise very good!
Hey thanks guys. I still tend to overcompress drums a little i have the feeling… i started using some 500 Series outboard compression, its so great but reacts a Lot different than Plugins. Do you have some tips overcoming the spikes that happen from time to time? I used mostly The dbx 560A for snare and kick, so i cant Change Attack… but it Sounds great imo
Too much snare verb? I am also a huge oldschool Metal fan, There is no too much verb on snare. But i See for fast and blast it wont helps gated reverbing a snare 😀
yes. Snare is too wet..
maybe a little more predelay would solve the problem…
all in all. really good
