• I want to say THANK YOU to all the judges. I loved your comments on my song. I can’t tell you how much I needed a good mic so now I can stop recording vox through my earbuds, lol. Just, sincerely, this is more appreciated than you will know, on so many levels. Much love to Clo and everyone.

    • Congrats to you and all the winners!

    • Congratulations to you Anna! Especially in your case i like the judges voting cause they set the mark on the creativity and love someone puts into his music and not the samples, output gain, complexitivity or if there’s a bit of a harshness or some boomy frequencies in the mix…

it all comes down to your own words: “I would listen to a good…[Read more]

      Congratulations!

I do agree with what you say about “knowing” frequencies though. I’m with you on a couple of things you say like that. I guess I just missed the post where anyone was arguing against that perspective lol.

Ouch. People on here are so passive aggressive it puts me in mind of a sewing circle where the only prerequisite for attendees is that we must be in the throes of some serious PMS. I wanted to give my 2 cents, and that is just…what about the creative element then? I would listen to a good melody recorded on a Tascam 8 track (cassette recorder)…[Read more]

Wow. I just saw all these posts and was going to reply to one guy, then realized another guy said “I agree” and kept on adding more and more stuff about gear…. Holy hell, I am not sure if I am deaf but I went in my car (which has a killer system) and listened to EVERY SINGLE last mix of everyone that threw in a backhanded compliment “the mix…[Read more]

Hey this is pretty good. It really stands out from the rest (in a good way of course!).

  • Don’t bother listening because it’s obvious crap. I’m only even posting it for all of the effort that went into it.

I do have something I want to say though. You know, it’s ironic. Because if I had better software, better equipment, a better microphone…etc., my remix too could have been a possible contender. So a…[Read more]

    • This is a an interesting twist to the song. Some drums sounds are strange but I like the ideas.

    • In my situation i ain’t got no money, but where i live there is alot of thrift/second hand stores that sell used vintage electronics/audio equipment for a few dollars cuz to them its just grandpa’s old trash electronics. Over the years I’ve found some high quality vintage equipment at those stores that I’ve been pissing off all my neighbors with…[Read more]

    • Well, for starters, you can install the Reaper, it’s 100% prof. as an editor, this will already give you a lot of opportunities.

    • Don’t invest in gear, invest in your education.

    • Wow. I would do some things different, but independent of your level, the idea is marvelous!

    • I like your remix! As for the software, check out Cakewalk as a DAW. It’s free and has a TON of functionality and samples/virtual instruments. And, of course, you can’t beat the wisdom and tricks Warren Huart et al gives us for free on the Produce Like a Pro YouTube Channel. Good luck, and keep making the music you feel!

    • Had commented on your previous post… Your work is awesome!🖤

    • Keep doing what you do best 💯

    • I really liked this a lot!!! Keep working, keep practising! You don’t need to buy mics or software, just keep learning the tools you have. Compression, eq, saturation, reverb and delay will get you throough 99% of mix situations, and there are awesome free versions of all these, and more, out there. Honestly, this remix was not crap at all, it was…[Read more]

    • Anna, what software and hardware do you currently use? I think you did great. I literally produced mine on the couch with a laptop and a pair of headphones and I dig it. The only non-free plugin I used was Valhala reverb cos it’s the purest, most versatile reverb I’ve found for that price. Expensive plugins are equipment are great and I think they…[Read more]

    • Good work. Keep on doing it! Your remix partly reminds me of some old Ann Clark Songs. Could perfectly be performed at the Meraluna-Festival.
      Good luck to you.

    • I really liked your vision for this remix. Gear wise, it’s really all about learning EQ, Leveling and Compression. I do all my mixing on a laptop and headphones.
      Good Luck

    • Wow! This sounds really amazing! Haha, you really shouldn’t feel bad, to me, the arrangement is exquisite, I think the mix could improve but don’t let the lack of gear or software hold you back, try searching knowledge on the internet, there are a lot of cool free places, the most important things, to me, are taste and passion.

    • Hey Anna M this was a very interesting remix tbh! Really cool rhythms and surprises all over the place. I think it needs some EQ to get a little more high/low end and it would totally be in the game. My recommendation gear wise is to get some good headphones (DT-770s are pretty good for the money) and mix at really low volum, but even without any…[Read more]

    • I agree with all the previous comments, this a great remix! You have a pretty unique style. You don’t really need a lot of expensive gear and software to achieve great results, there are a lot of free and really powerful software. Check out the suggestions other people have given, and most of all, don’t give up! You’re killing it!

      Also, you shoul…[Read more]

    • i done my remix with nothing but a behringer um2, where i tracked a cheap guitar and a cheap and nasty bass. i use reaper and free plugins. I’m broke at the moment so fancy gear or plugins aren’t happening. also, I’ve only started anything audio production a year ago. whether a (re-)mix is good or not is not defined by your equipment. it’s defined…[Read more]

    • It’s an interesting thought and I see what you mean, but I don’t really agree.
I thought the same when I first started but soon realized that mixing is equally important as producing, literally 50/50.
I had some fun and cool ideas while producing but the mix didn’t sound as I wanted so I thought about it and switched focus to mixing instead of…[Read more]

Alright. From the multitracks, I used the CLO verses, chorus, and bridge files, the LeeAnna vox, and the drums file. I noticed at that time, from what I’d seen, no one had yet chopped up the vox at all and I knew even before from listening to the tracks that’s what I wanted to do. So I used bits and pieces and added fx to the vox. The CLO ones…[Read more]
