Agree! I’ve learned about approaching to a completely different music genre and how the elements work in it (or don’t). Sometimes it was challenging, because I felt kind of stuck and without any ideas. But in the end I found my way through and I’m quite happy with my result. Cheers to everyone. 🙂
Hey Fabian! I struggled with where to pan the drum loops. They started in the center but kept wandering off to the side on me, ha ha.
I realize it’s not how a pop song for the masses is traditionally mixed. I thought, however, I would try to mine the song for a level of emotional depth that might not be apparent on first or second listen but is…[Read more]
Hi! This is my remix for the “Produce Like A Pro” contest. I used the vocal and acoustic guitar stems and built the rest around it. Let me know what you think. Enjoy listening. 🙂 Nice greetings, Fabian.
Wow, that is a beautiful huge mix. Sub bass is really nice, and everything sounds big and clean. I love the little counter melodies (trombone?) very musically applied. Great dynamics too. Would definitely listen again!
The piano at 0:42 with the pads/strings was magical and that build-up/release at 0:53-0:54 too. Everything was so grand and felt super sentimental. I thought the effects on “From long long ago” in the bridge didn’t fit in with the mix, it felt a little overpowering. Other than that, great job @Fabian!
Wow, this sounds huge! The only thing that bugs me just a little is the EQ on the vocals, I’d love to hear it with a bit less of this telephone effect – I’m not talking about the bridge where it’s used purposely, just the general sound of it. Mind you, I’m being very picky here because it’s close to perfection! 😉
Maybe the vocal is too loud and upfront and needs tiny bit deessing (harsh air) on verses – as “phone” backing in chorus is either too close and harsh.
For the whole mix I missed some fat low-end. Just for my taste )
But the work itself is beautiful!
