I’d say 4 days total, first 2 (like 8 hours each) to rearrange the song and create all the tones with (what I thought to be) a nice mix balance, then the last 2 days (more like 4 or 5 hours each) giving “movement” to the various parts of the song, you know, instrumental going up on chorus and down on verses, vocals spreading in the stereo field…[Read more]
I spent about eight hours on this over three or four days on the last day I made almost no changes it was just automation fading in the fader on the master bus and panning from left to right that was it
Not bad at all! Guitars are a little on the “dark side” IMHO and that hi hat is really popping out too much while kick and snare could’ve been louder, anyway I’ve appreciated I’m not the only one who chose to rearrange the song 😀 Bravo cumpà!
I can see for some the Hihat is dominating, I felt the groove was emphasized on the HiHat, some feel that the Snare Hits is where the power is, The drummer’s right hand to me felt that he was focusing the most. but if the band was next to me or had a chance for them to change some volumes here and there, of course I would listen to them and reach…[Read more]
well, beside that this is a very good mix,the only things I don’t like are the drums a little too upfront and the fact there’s no build up leading to an “explosion” in the chorus, it’s all the same “intensity” through the whole song. Anyway this is one of the best mixes so far IMHO
I think if you rebalance the drums a bit, say take the kick and snare mics a tiny bit and turn up the overheads the drums will already be less upfront. My criticism would be the bass guitar is a little loud and it’s overshadowing the other instruments. The Rap vocal is also a little too loud. An easy (and in my opinion effective) way to make your…[Read more]
Wow, we’re already 800+! I think I’ve listened to almost every mix so far, I must say there are lots of good ones! Talking about guitar tones I was wondering, how many went for an actual analog reamp (head+cab+mics) and how many chose the digital solution (amp sims+IRs) ??? I went fully digital using the Scream 4 module from the Reason Rack Plugin…[Read more]
Gerhard, gain it’s not about loudness, what Dawid’s saying here (I guess, ’cause I agree) is that the guitars are too clean for the genre, they lack a proper heavy distortion, hence they lack gain, it’s not about volume, you can have loud clean-ish guitars standing above everything else, still they’d need more gain.
Andrea Moretti distortion is distortion, gain is gain, grain is grain, drive is drive, reverb is reverb, saturation is saturation. So if what he meant to say is they need more distortion from driving them harder by turning the gain up on an amp-simulator, that’s what needs to be said. Because usually “gain” IS about loudness. I didn’t understand…[Read more]
