The balancing is really good, also like the overall tone and levels on the echoy / ambient guitars. Thought the bass had a little too much high end but, as I’ve listened further, it helps the definition so, though I’d reduce the top end a little myself, it works well.
This is what makes contests like this so good, I love your take on this, it’s well balanced, great mix of the original percussion and your own. Middle is really good (great ambience). I also like how you’ve mixed the guitar parts so they flow together. Great effort.
I’ve found that the temptation is to push the guitar riff in the chorus out too much, I think you’ve got it spot on although the vocal could do with being slightly louder (in my opinion :)) Spacing and dynamics are really good.
Thanks David! Haha man I struggled with setting the vocal volume. Sometimes I heard it as being a dB or two too quiet and other times it sounded too loud. Sigh, the joys of mixing haha. Appreciate your comments my man.
Nice use of distortion on the voice (subtle but effective). Good spacing on the intruments too. Only downside is the higher end on the drums (cymbals etc) but some of that’s the way it’s recorded I think. Overall a good ‘big’ sounding mix of the song 🙂
