I’ve loved working on this song. The song gradually builds and opens up at the chorus (with three basslines) just before the bridge. I wanted the bridge and final chorus to have lots of energy (e.g., 16th note delay on the piano), with intimate vocals and piano ending the song. The kick drum — a combination of a LinnDrum kick, delay, and subtle bass — acts as a heartbeat, a play on whether there is life on mars. Thanks for listening!
