Here’s my reworking of this song.
Following the contest rules, I kept Steve and Kim’s great vocals exactly the same, but had a lot of fun with the idea of changing everything else and making it unique, including reharmonisation. It actually started off as a kind of Bossa Nova chord sequence on acoustic guitar, but then gradually evolved into this final version. I’m not really sure what style I’d call this – any suggestions are welcome!
Apart from the drum loops and drum machine, all the instruments are played and, although the Minimoog synth bass and Mellotron are Virtual Instruments, there’s no sequencing, quantising or copy and pasting.
By the way, I added the Mellotrons from the second chorus as a homage to early-period David Bowie, which must have been some inspiration behind the lyrics in the chorus!

Woooow, I love your take man! The chord-structure are really sick, fresh and jazzy!:D
This whole chord restructuring is insanely good! Chorus made me feel like it was taking me to church. LOL!! I can definitely hear some of that gospel influence in there. Great Job!!
Cheers! Glad you like it!
Yours sounds cool too – great energy!Cheers! Glad you like it!

I’m out at the minute, but would like to listen better when I get back, and then comment on your thread.I’m not a big fan of reharmonizations, but this time it works really well. Good job!
Good luck to you.
Cheers! Yeah, there’s a bit of a weird mix of influences going on here! The chord structure evolved into whatever it is now, basically trying to match it with the vocal melodies and harmonies, but hopefully it all makes sense and works together!
Great arrangement!
Cool version
Very much enjoyed this one. Cool!
Wooowww — the instrumentation of the track that you put the vocals to made me :) – the musicianship!
Cheers! I tried to make sure it all still made sense with the vocal melodies, despite being pretty different!
