Hopla!…. 1…2…3…4…
Heya Heya hey hey!
Heya Heya hey hey!Hey Spend,
Thanks for checking out my remix and your kind words!
Since you have not gotten much feedback yet, I would like to give you my thoughts on what I hear on this mix. This is meant as encouragement, and is just my humble opinion =)
So:
-The low end/low mids of the bass could be more controlled than this.
-The snare could use a little more bite, punch and presence. Or simply blend it with a nice sample.
-I’m not exactly sure how you processed your vocals, but I would personally say that it’s not necessarely best practice to pan lead vocals in modern mixes. This might also be that you used a relatively short reverb with a high wet setting, and this reverb tends to pan the vocal?
-Speaking of the vocals, I think they could to with more presence in the mix, and some other type of reverb than the one you used. Best to experiment there.
– The distored guitars in the chorus seem a little bit loud, or need some type of EQ to fit them in a little better. As of now I feel like they take up too much space, and to at times step on the vocals and take away some clarity of the mix. This might also be a result of the vocals being too low/not present enough in the mix. With more upfront vocals, maybe the instrumental levels of the guitars could work.
My suggestion would be to rework those aspects, and referencing the original track while you do that and trying to get as close as possible to it. I find that helps greatly to improve my mixing skills little by little. A very nice plugin for comparing tracks is “4u blindtest”. It allows you to, as the name says, blindly compare different tracks, and level matches them automatically for you so you dont get fooled by the volume. Great little tool, and there is a free version. Check it out https://hofa-plugins.de/plugins/4u-blindtest/
Good luck!
